LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Sunday took suo moto notice of non-issuance of national identity cards to transgender persons.
To this end, the Supreme Court sent notices to interim Punjab government, Chief Secretary and Akhuwat Foundation pertaining non-issuance of ID cards to the transgender persons.
The apex court will conduct hearing of the case tomorrow (Monday) at 11pm in Supreme Court’s Lahore registry.
Earlier on Saturday, the transgender persons had complained to the CJP about non-issuance of ID documents upon his visit to Fountain House and had urged him to take notice of the issue.
