SHIKARPUR: A high-level meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office under the head of provincial election commissioner Tanveer Ahmed Zaki here on Monday. The meeting was held to implement the code of conduct during the by-elections to be held on October 20. Besides the district returning officer, the deputy commissioner and SSP from Shikarpur, and contesting candidates Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh (PPP), Nasir Mahmood Soomro (JUI-F), and Muhammad Azam Brohi (PTI) also participated in the meeting. Tanveer Zaki said that no one including MNA, MPA and senator would be allowed to continue election campaign during the election process. On the day of elections, Section 144 would be imposed to maintain law and order situation in the district. Colonel Muhammad Asim said that 105 polling stations have been set up and 29 of them were declared as very sensitive and 76 were declared as sensitive. He said that about 700 paramilitary personnel would be deployed inside and outside the polling stations. SSP Umar Tufail said that comprehensive security plan has been finalised. Sikandar Khushk said that strict security measures would be made during the by-election.
